S.V Ons Eiland<\/strong> (“Our Island”) is one of the many playground associations in Leiden<\/a>. It has been established on the 18th of July 1946 and is one of the playgrounds with the longest history.<\/p>\n\n\n

The playground is fully run by volunteers<\/strong> and cosponsored by the Municipality of Leiden<\/a> and the Leiden Playground Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The admission<\/strong> is free<\/strong>, but we appreciate voluntary contribution<\/strong> in the red box next to the “mushroom”-building.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Registration as supporter can be done with an online form<\/a> and you will receive newsletters once in a while. Unfortunately the page and our newsletters are in Dutch at the moment. If you need support in English, please send us a message via our contact page.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Become a volunteer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are always looking for volunteers who can help us with a varierty of things. Are you the handyman we are looking for, are you creative or do you like to help with activities or organise an activity yourself? More information on the “vrijwilligers” page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paddestoel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In summer, ice cream, candy, drinks and small snacks are sold from “De Paddestoel” (The Mushroom).<\/p>\n\n\n

The playground is for children up to 12 years old<\/strong>, with a separate <\/strong>playground area for the youngest up to 4 years old<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Centre<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The community building of the Zeeheldenbuurt<\/strong> (Naval heroes district) is located on the playground premises with several activities for children as well as adults and elderly. For example every week a Children Crafts Afternoon is organised by MBO Rijnland (Vocational school, dept. social work).
